Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus) is one of the most commonly used in traditional medicine because of the presence of steroidal saponins and sapogenins in various parts of the plant. Its role as a milk production enhancing substance has been mentioned in several ancient Ayurvedic text books such as Charaka Samhita and Susruta Samhita. It has phytoestrogenic properties and it has been observed to increase milk secretion following administration. This ayurvedic herb is greatly reputed as a galactagogue and lactation herb. Trigonella Foenum Graecum
